Meet David Frost, Professional Engineer, a member of the Carson Dunlop Home Inspection team since 1995 and a Registered Home Inspector (RHI). David brings a more than 20 years of experience to every inspection, conveying a wealth of knowledge that allows clients to make great decisions about their home.
Why did you decide to become a home inspector?
DF: “I’ve always been interested in homes and architecture. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1983 as a Civil Engineer, I proceeded to gain more engineering experience inspecting large concrete structures. Once I obtained my designation as a Consulting Engineer in 1994, I pursued my passion for homes and joined Carson Dunlop.”
What’s the one thing you wish every homeowner knew?
DF: “I wish homeowners knew that the design of their home impacts the performance of their home. There is no such thing as a perfectly designed home, so homeowners need to be aware of the pros and cons of the design of their home and how maintenance is critical in optimizing the performance of their home over its lifetime.”
What is the most surprising thing you’ve uncovered during a home inspection?
DF: “How determined some raccoons can be to get into an attic. Sometimes the pest control guys need to come back multiple times to seal up all the access points they create!”
