Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations – Information & Communication Policy
Intent:
Carson Dunlop will create and provide information and communications in ways that are accessible for people with disabilities. This policy outlines Carson Dunlop’s policy related to information and communication.
All information and communications materials and services provided by Carson Dunlop will follow the principles of dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity.
Guidelines:
- Carson Dunlop will provide people with disabilities information and communication in an accessible format. Alternative accessible formats include but are not limited to large print, text transcripts of audio or visual information, handwritten notes instead of spoken word, information written in plain language, an electronic document formatted to be accessible for use with a screen reader. Accessible formats and communication supports will be provided in a timely manner at no cost to the employee. Carson Dunlop will consider the person’s accessibility needs when customizing individual requests and will consult with the individual making the request to ensure suitability. Effective date: January 1, 2017.
- Carson Dunlop will ensure that all feedback, both internal and external, are made accessible to clients, customers and employees upon request. Effective date: January 1, 2016.
- Should a student notify Carson Dunlop of their need for more accessible resources and materials due to a disability, we will provide learning resources, material, student records and program information in an accessible format that considers their accessibility needs. Carson Dunlop will provide accessible or conversion-ready versions of training textbooks when requested. Effective date: January 1, 2015.
- Carson Dunlop will ensure that all publicly available safety and emergency information (i.e. evacuation procedures, floor plans, etc.) is provided in an accessible format or with appropriate communication supports, upon request.
