ENERGY Advisor Sub Contractor Position

Carson Dunlop is actively recruiting experienced and qualified individuals to join our ecoENERGY Sub Contractor Program.

Please Note: Carson Dunlop only trains new energy advisors who are selected to join our Sub Contractor Program. All other training inquiries should be directed to NRCan.

Introduction:

Carson Dunlop is an NRCan - licensed ecoENERGY Service Organization.

Position Description:

The ecoENERGY advisor role involves performing home energy evaluations on residential homes. You will meet with homeowners, conduct the energy assessment and issue a computer-generated report. Following the NRCan standards and guidelines, the advisors work independently, under the Carson Dunlop NRCan license agreement. Successful candidates will be required to meet or exceed all of the position criteria and sign a Sub Contractor Business Agreement. A background in residential or commercial property inspection will be considered a definite asset as will knowledge of construction practices and energy efficient renovations.

Training and equipment are required and Carson Dunlop can assist new advisors with meeting both requirements.

Compensation is commission based.

Education:

  • College Diploma or University Degree
  • Home Inspection Training and Education Program Certificate
  • Evidence of continuing education - generally related to construction, building science or the home inspection industry
  • Relevant training in a closely related field

Knowledge Profile:

  • Knowledge of construction practices for existing low-rise housing (specific to the candidate's region as well)
  • Energy Efficiency renovation practices (insulation, air/vapour barrier detailing etc.)
  • Residential building materials (insulation types, windows sealants, air, moisture and vapour barriers etc.)
  • Residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
  • Building science, including principles of the 'house as a system'
  • Sound skills in arithmetic and geometry

Required skills:

  • Good computer skills - desktop, laptop, modem, the internet, email
  • Excellent customer service skills - professionalism, courtesy, respect, dependability, timeliness
  • Superior communication skills - written and verbal
