The Carson Dunlop Difference

Professional Staff

  • All of our Home Inspectors are Engineers
  • After 30 years, our engineers understand what home buyers need and want.
  • Unbiased approach and advice to help protect your investment. Our support staff are also highly trained and will answer all of your questions Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 8:00PM and on weekends from 10:00AM until 5:00PM.

Rigorous Process

  • We analyze the structure as well as all of the major house systems.
  • We encourage our clients to join us during their home inspection.
  • You are free to ask questions as our Inspector examines the home from the top of the roof to the basement. (Many of our clients have described this as a course in home ownership).

Comprehensive Reports

A home Inspection is not complete without the report.

  • We offer two reports; at the end of the inspection we provide an interim summary report which allows the inspector to discuss our findings and answer any questions our client or their agent may have.
  • Within 24 hours we will also have completed a comprehensive report of our findings which includes relevant photos, colour illustrations, and links to appropriate reference material.
  • We will send you an email linking you to your report allowing you to review, save, and share with others. Click here to view a sample.

Added Value

We remain involved as clients prepare to move as they settle into their new home.

  • Each client can take advantage of a free membership in our Home Owners Association - click here to learn more.
  • We are also available for as long as our clients live in the home with FREE technical consulting.

The Difference you DON'T Want

When considering a home inspection firm – there are several most important factors to consider including:

  • Do they have the appropriate technical credentials?
It takes a sound background in the engineering principles of house construction as well as specialized training and experience to become a competent home inspector.
  • How much experience have they had?
The last thing you want is someone that is just learning the trade.  Buying a home is too big a commitment to settle for anything less than the best.
  • Are they able to communicate in a clear concise manner?
  • Do they spend 2 to 3 hours at the house and do they encourage you to follow along?
  • Do they provide their summary reports on site so you can get the information you need, when you need it?
  • Do they give you ball park costs on any suggested repairs and improvements so you know where you stand?
  • Do you get a detailed report that explains the condition and suggested actions you should consider with each major component
  • Will they be there for you to answer your questions after you move in or years later?

When choosing your home inspection company, do yourself a favour and don't shop by price alone - shop for the best value. You didn't buy the least expensive house on the market, you bought the one that best fits your needs. Choose your inspection firm the same way.
