Welcome to the April edition of the Network News!

Greetings To All!

It’s time to put down your brooms and your vacuums from all the spring cleaning that you have been doing, and take a break with this month's issue of the Network News!

Let’s hope spring is here to stay, and as we all know, April flowers bring May showers. With that being said, let’s hope your inspections come pouring in during the spring season!

In this month’s issue we will continue with our two part series on first buyer seminars.
We will also hear from one of our valued Home Reference Book Users about a legal issue he experienced with a previous home inspection. It’s always encouraging when others who have been in the business for a while share their experiences with us, so that we can learn from each other.

Our photo contest winner for last month's issue was submitted by Jody Breen, a student in the Home Inspection Certificate Program, and a future home inspector. Congratulations Jody! From the looks of that chimney, Santa probably had an interesting time planning his journey down!
This month’s photo entry comes to us from Keri Shastri of Eagle Home Inspections in Toronto, ON. Keep the snapshots coming in to us!

So onward and upward to all of you who are aspiring to get up on those rooftops. Let us take a deep breath, and begin what will hopefully be a plentiful spring of inspections!

As always, we’re happy to hear from you, and I can be reached at 1-800-268-7070 ext 232 or by email at carrieann@carsondunlop.com.

Sincerely,

Carrie-Ann Methe

Technical Articles

Technical Article #1 - Steve Love Presentation Notes

In March 2005, I was called to an inspection in Baldwin, Ontario. Nice home, long ranch style bungalow, about 15 years old.

I showed up, knocked on the door, presented my card and started looking around. At this point the agent was waiting in his car for the clients to show up. Read more...

Technical Article #2 - Identifying Heat Pumps

At first glance, it can be difficult to differentiate heat pumps from air conditioners, especially during the summer months. The following are some of the ways to tell.

Look at the data plate. It may say Heat Pump on it, or the model number may start with HP. If it does not, you can jot down the manufacturer’s name and model number and contact the manufacturer. Read More...
